Resolved - Telstra have advised all systems are now fully restored.

Incident RCA:
Telstra recipients experienced elevated SMS failure rates on 08/07/2026 due to an incident on Telstra's network. No outbound messaging or gateway functions on the 5c SMS or Telstra wholesale systems were affected. The extent of the issue was limited to message delivery to Telstra devices; our systems, and Telstra's gateways and APIs, were not impacted.

Affected: Message delivery to Telstra devices (recipient-side delivery failures)
Not affected: Our outbound messaging systems and gateway functions; Telstra's gateways and APIs

Timeline (AEST)
07/08/2026
~3:00AM Telstra recipients began experiencing impact (SMS failure rates for Telstra recipients exceed monitoring threshold)
5:00AM – 8:00AM peak SMS failure rates observed across most Telstra numbers (80% of Telstra recipients failing)
8:00AM SMS failure rates to Telstra recipients begin to fall
~10:00AM SMS failure rates to Telstra recipients return to within normal levels
6:00PM Telstra confirms full recovery has been completed

The failures were caused by an incident on Telstra's network affecting device connectivity. Our systems and Telstra's gateways were not affected. We maintained ongoing communication with Telstra throughout the incident to confirm no additional systems were impacted and to check whether any action was required on the gateway side. No further action was needed on our end or Telstra's gateway infrastructure.

Failure rates returned to normal without intervention as Telstra resolved the underlying network issue. No corrective action was required on our platform, as our systems remained unaffected throughout.

Monitoring - We are observing failure rates to Telstra recipients falling into a normal range. However, we recommend customers hold off sending messages to Telstra devices until they confirm the issue is resolved, if possible.
